Here’s the official bio from the back of my book. It doesn’t say much, but it has all the essential details.
Stelios Charalambides has more than 20 years experience working with Oracle databases. He is OCP certified and has worked as a senior Consultant DBA on both sides of the Atlantic, dealing with all aspects of system design, implementation and post production support, solving practical problems in a wide variety of environments. He now works as an Oracle Support Engineer developing time critical solutions for tier one customers with high profile performance problems.
I have a Ph.D. from Imperial College London, a private pilots license and I live in New Hampshire with my wife, two children and two dogs.
These days I work for Oracle, but for 20 years before that I was a DBA and worked in a lot of different industries, from power management to medical equipment to high finance. In every case I spent time, sometimes a lot of time, tuning SQL, but in all those years I never heard of SQLTxplain (more often known as SQLT)
SQLTXplain is an Oracle tool which is available, free, to supported customers. At Oracle support we use it all the time to solve even the most complex tuning problems. The tool is excellent. I only wish I’d known about it years ago, so I wrote a book called Oracle SQL Tuning With Oracle SQLTXplain so that everyone could learn to use this truly useful tool.
